Scraps

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: March 21, 2026 Last Updated: March 21, 2026

The Short Version

Scraps collects nothing. Stores nothing on our end. Sends nothing anywhere. Every photo, video, audio recording, annotation, GPS coordinate, and setting lives exclusively on your device and nowhere else. We have no servers. We have no database. We do not know who you are and have no way to find out.

If that's all you needed to know, the rest is just the fine print.

Section 1

Who We Are

Scraps is developed and published by Alex Lee ("we," "us," or "our"). You can reach us at [email protected] with any questions about this policy.

Section 2

What We Collect

Nothing.

We do not collect, receive, transmit, or store any personal data — not your name, not your email address, not your device identifier, not your usage patterns, not your location history, not your photos, not anything.

This is not a setting we can change remotely, or a promise we could quietly break. It is a matter of architecture. We operate no servers or infrastructure capable of receiving anything from the App.

Section 3

What Stays on Your Device

Everything you create in Scraps stays on your device:

All of it lives privately on your device. It is never transmitted to us or to any third party we control. When content is deleted — manually or through auto-deletion — it is gone permanently. We have no ability to recover it, and neither does anyone else through us.

Section 4

Device Permissions

Scraps requests the following permissions. Each is used solely to make the App work, entirely on your device:

PermissionWhy We Need It
CameraTo capture photos and, in future versions, video
MicrophoneTo capture audio in future versions of the App
Photo LibraryTo save media to your camera roll when you choose to keep it
Location (When In Use)To tag media with GPS coordinates at the time of capture

Granting location permission gives the App — not us — the ability to record where a photo was taken. That coordinate is stored with your media on your device and goes nowhere else.

You can revoke any permission at any time in iOS Settings. Revoking a permission will limit or disable the corresponding feature.

Section 5

Third-Party Services

Mapping. When you tap a photo to view where it was taken, the App passes that location's coordinates to Apple Maps or Google Maps to render a pin on a map. This interaction is governed by their respective privacy policies:

Beyond the display coordinates, we pass nothing else to these services — not your identity, not your photo, not any other metadata.

No analytics. No advertising. No crash reporters. We do not currently use any third-party tools that collect data. If that ever changes in a future version, we will update this policy before releasing that version and obtain any required consent.

Section 6

In-App Purchases

Purchases of Pro Features are handled entirely by Apple. We do not see, receive, or store your payment information. Apple's privacy policy governs all purchase data: apple.com/legal/privacy.

Section 7

Children

Scraps is not directed to children under 13 and is not intended for use by anyone under 13. Because we collect no personal data from any user, we do not collect personal data from children. If you are under 13, please do not use the App.

Section 8

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain nothing, so there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.

All media and data within the App is stored on your device and is entirely under your control. You can delete individual items, clear all content, or uninstall the App — any of which removes your data from your device. None of these actions affect anything on our end, because nothing of yours exists there.

Section 9

For Users in the EU, EEA, and UK

Because Scraps does not collect, process, or store your personal data, the data subject rights established by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and equivalent legislation — including rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection — do not apply to our processing of your data. There is no data on our end to access, correct, export, or delete.

If you have a question or concern, you are always welcome to reach out. We will give you a straight answer, even when that answer is simply that we hold nothing.

Section 10

For California Residents

Because we do not sell, share, or collect personal information as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), the opt-out, deletion, and access rights established by those laws do not apply to our relationship with you. We have no personal information about you to disclose, sell, or delete.

Section 11

Security

Because all data remains on your device, its security is governed by your device's own protections — your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and iOS's built-in security features. We recommend keeping your device and iOS up to date.

We do not transmit your data, which means there is no transmission for us to secure, and no server for anyone to breach on our end.

Section 12

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision. For material changes, we will provide notice through the App or via App Store update notes before the changes take effect.

Because we collect no data, most future changes will reflect new features or integrations — not new data practices. We will always be upfront about anything that touches your privacy.

Section 13
